With the theme Science for the Global Challenges, the 2024 European Researchers’ Night (NEI) took place on September 27. In Évora, the initiative was open to the community in the Praça 1º de Maio, by the Mercado Municipal.

Podcast CIDEHUS – À Conversa com o Turismo | Episódio #2 “Património Cultural e Turismo no Alentejo em entrevista”

Professor Noémi Marujo, coordinator of PACTUAL project – Património Cultural e Turismo no Alentejo: motivações e experiências do visitante português –, is this conversation’s guest, guided by grant holders José Carola and Vitorina Baptista, about tourism, scientific investigation, and the valorization of the region’s heritage.

Over the course of this interview, the objectives, foundations, and processes developed by the project are highlighted, as well as the results’ potential for the future of Academia, of the community, and the development of Alentejo as a tourist location. A broad overview about an innovative project in the investigative fields of tourism and heritage, that aims to communicate the profile of those who visit Alentejo and contribute to structuring a more sustainable offer, capable of dignify and promote the material and intangible heritage of the region.

Two research grants for bachelor degree holders through the InMap Project – Memories and Archives: Mapping the (In)tangible (2023.10222.S4P23), developed within the Science4Policy 2023 (S4P-23) call: Concurso de Estudos de Ciência para as Políticas Públicas, an initiative by PlanAPP – Centre for Planning and Evaluation of Public Policies, financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP).

Registration for project MEDHEUS’ Internation Conference are open through September 27, 2024.

This scientific meeting aims to promote an interdisciplinary dialogue centered on mediterranean heritage, the program and euro-mediterranean policies for its safeguard and valorization, as a way to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development agenda.

One research grant for a bachelor degree holder by CIDEHUS – Interdisciplinary Center for History, Cultures and Societies at the University of Évora, UIDB/00057/2020, internal project Railway and Food and Agriculture Industry: vectors of territorial organization and landscape transformation in the Alentejo (19th and 20th centuries), with national funding through FCT/MCTES.

Ana Carvalho, Integrated Researcher in the CIDEHUS, will moderate on September 20, 2024, the roundtable “Património Cultural Imaterial: Como proteger e valorizar” inserted in the Seminar dedicated to the “Intangible Cultural Heritage. Inventory, Preservation and Valorization”, organized by the Porto metropolitan area. The event will take place in the Paredes Cultural Center, Porto.

The Seminar is integrated within the programme that seeks to raise awareness of the relevance of Intangible Cultural Heritage within the context of promoting innovating public policies, on a regional and local scale, with the objective of stimulating the discussion and analysis of different valorization strategies of this kind of heritage.
