On the 490th anniversary of the creation of the Portuguese Inquisition, the International Group ‘History of the Inquisitions’ invites professors, researchers, and master’s and doctoral students to submit proposals for papers for its international seminar on the theme of ‘Foundations, Adaptations and Roots’, which will take place at the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation’s Centre for Art and Culture in Évora, Portugal, between 21 and 23 October 2026, exclusively in person.
This edition of the ‘International Seminar on the History of the Inquisitions’ aims to analyse the founding moments of the Holy Office in the different societies under its jurisdiction.
